About Dillie Dallie Crafting

My name is Robin and I’m a Quiet Corner Crafter. We may have met at a local craft fair, school, or even online. I created Dillie Dallie Crafting in the winter of 2018 when I decided to share “the whimsy.”
As my love of collecting crafting materials grew, so did my imagination and creativity, then came the beads! A thrifty friend who was looking to get rid of beads, asked if I was interested in them and I couldn’t say no. That is where my love of beads started and has yet to end, as I look up at my wall of beads.
The beads quickly turned in to something beautiful… a spider. Some people know me as “The Spider Lady,” particularly because I spent 3 years just making spiders before a request for a dragonfly was made. This one small request allowed me to expand my creations and my bead collection.
Why Spiders?
In the Winter of 1997, my mother-in-law sent me a gift of a beaded spider. I wasn’t sure if I should be excited or concerned. My husband reassured me that it was a good thing. When she came to visit in the Spring of 1998, I asked if she could teach me and she was happy to share her spidey skills. Along with teaching me how to make the spiders, she shared a heartwarming story.
The Christmas Spider Story
A very long time ago, deep in the woods, there lived a little lady. She decided, about this time of year, that she wanted a Christmas tree. But first she set about cleaning her house; she dusted, clearing all the cobwebs and spiderwebs away and shooing out all the spiders!
Then she went out into the forest, chopped down a tree, dragged it back and put it up! Well,by this time, she was quite tired. So she went upstairs to bed.
Later that night, the spiders were gathering around the window, peeking in and wondering why this lady had kicked them out and brought in a tree! So they found a crack and snuck back into the house and over to the tree. They started to investigate from bottom to top and out onto all of the branches.
The next day, the little lady came back downstairs. The tree was absolutely shimmering in the morning sunlight because of the webs the spiders had made.
The moral, or lesson of this story is that all creatures, great and small can create something beautiful.
